Busy Weekend! (WARNING: Long Post)

Last weekend it seems that we were going non-stop. The minute Spencer walked in the door from work on Friday we headed out in search of a good time. First stop was Chick-fil-A for dinner. Next up, the Halloween store where we all tried on lots of scary stuff, and finally Hobby Lobby where Abigail decided to have her own personal photo shoot.

Saturday we went to some friends house in Lakeway to celebrate Maddy's 3rd birthday. The theme of the party was Mermaids and Pirates. The place was decorated so beautifully and the catering was fabulous. The kids loved playing in the pool with friends and running around outside! Sunday was jam packed with excitement as well. A local improv group does improv theatre for kids on Sundays. We bought tickets and met some friends of ours downtown. Abigail had not seen her friend Kiryan in a while, so that in itself was very exciting. Before we got to the theatre, we stopped off at the Pecan Street Festival. We strolled around the place for a bit while Emery got a much needed nap. Abigail picked out a cute necklace and Emery came home with a yellow tutu we are going to use as her Halloween costume.

As soon as Emery woke up the girls spotted a petting zoo. (I personally find these things repulsive but the kids just can't get enough.) Abigail went nuts over the kangaroo in the zoo. She had never seen a real live Kangaroo and this was exciting! Emery was so interested in the animals she would walk up to them, tell them "hi", and pour a whole cup of food at their feet. Poor thing ran out of feed rather quickly but it didn't phase her. She just picked hay up off the ground and tried to shove it in their mouths. Lucky animals! After Emery tried to kiss a Llama and Abigail finally got the Kangaroo to eat her food, we were thankful to peel the girls away just in time to make it over to the improv theatre!

This was so much fun. I had never been to see improv before so I didn't know what to expect. It was group of about 5 actors that start out telling a story and then have the children in the audience fill in the blanks to move the story along. Abigail was such a willing participant! She raised her hand a couple of times and didn't have an answer when they called on her. After we explained to her that if she raises her hand she needs to have something to say, things went smoothly.

At the end of he show several of the children joined the actors on stage for a dance. There was no way a dance was going to happen without Emery! Emery jumped up on stage with the big kids and had a ball dancing. It was definitely something we will do again.
