Emery had her 15 month well check today. The doctor's office quit making their reminder calls so we missed 2 prior appointments. Hence, the 15 month appointment turned into the 16 month appointment. She is really thriving! The doctor was very impressed with her. She is ahead of the curve and already moving past her 18 month milestones. Here is a run down:
First, her stats. Not much has changed, she's still a very healthy little toddler: Height - 32 1/9 inches (85th percentile); weight - 27lbs, 13oz (95th percentile); and she still has daddy's big head at 49.4cm (above 95th percentile).
She has a 30+ word vocabulary. Words that she uses on a regular basis or has started saying recently are: Mom and Dad (mama and dada are already phasing out), hi, bye, kitty, doggie, up, down, walk, eat, night-night, water, shoes, boots, Abigail, eyes, nose, mouth, hair, on, off, car, movie, book, pa-pa, duck, that, here, Millie, Max, bath, swing, outside, help, please, thank you, and most importantly, no and mine.
She said her own name just last week. (Sept. 30th)
She's starting to put 2 words together. The cutest is when Max the cat walks by her and she says, "Hi Maxie."
She can stack at least 4 blocks (and then immediately knock them down).
And she's become a pretty good runner. She tries to jump (she has cleared both feet off the floor once, and she is really serious about trying to figure out how that happened.).
She likes to color and has already drawn on the couch and floor and garage door.
She's starting to count. She says one, two, and three, but not always in the right order, and she really prefers two.
She likes to point to at all letters and call them "A." (Also really wants to sing her ABC's and will in the next few months)
She loves to smell flowers and picked some pretty ones on our walk today. She alternated walking and sniffing her little boquet.
She still loves music. Her new favorite song is one she learned at story time, "Read, Read, Read your books." She does the sign language that goes along with it.
She can follow simple instructions. (And sometimes not so simple)
Will answer most questions with the shake of her head
Still just as snuggly as ever!
She loves to read books, and she has her favorites. When Spencer puts her to bed he'll let her pick out 5 or 6 books to read. He holds a book up and she'll either tap it (that means read it), or shake her head (that means get it out of my face). She likes to turn the pages and point stuff out. Sometimes, she'll decide that a story just isn't worth finishing and she'll close the book with a 'and moving on' attitude. The girl knows what she wants.
She's become very adept at communicating her needs by pointing (and grunting and whining and )
Tamper tantrums get bigger and better everyday, and are mostly the result of fatigue + frustration. Being bossed around by her big sister is not her favorite pasttime, and often results in a meltdown (why did we ever fool ourselves into thinking she would be the quiet, compliant one?)
She as started to participate in pretend play. She likes to bring us food and we all pretend to eat it. She thinks this is really hilarious when we take little pretend bites out of play corn and sip air out of tea cups.
She really concentrates on using her utensils at the beginning of her meals (which lasts about 5 minutes and then all hands in) and she likes to wash her hands (really, it more about playing in the water, but it's a start). And she likes to brush her teeth with two toothbrushes at once. Not quite there, but almost.
So there's a brain dump of all things Emery on her 15 month well check. It's so amazing to see how much she's changed over such a short time span. More changes to come!
