Happy Fireworks Day!
This Fourth of July weekend we were very indecisive about what we were going to do. (Abigail and I passed a little time while Emery was napping by making a festive homemade tart.) We really wanted to go downtown for the evening and enjoy the celebration and fireworks display while listening to the symphony. But, the 100,000 other people that were doing the same thing really turned us off of that idea. We didn't want the girls to miss fireworks so we found ourselves in a Starbucks parking lot in Pflugerville. It happens to be a small town right north of us that does a fairly decent fireworks show every year. We actually went to Lake Pflugerville one year and watched the fireworks up close. Looking back, I can't believe Emery wasn't even a month old when we took her all dressed up in her 4Th of July outfit! The show seems to have gotten more popular the past few years and once again the traffic and large crowds seemed to overwhelm us. We popped a big bag of popcorn, grabbed our lawn chairs, and headed out for the perfect place to watch the fireworks. Somehow we landed on the lawn at Starbucks. Our view was less than perfect, but the girls didn't seem to mind. They had fun ooh-ing and ahh-ing over what fireworks they could see. I just love that they have lots of fun regardless of the circumstances. (It certainly helped that they had no idea that the view could be better.)
